Hi everyone;
I have recently started to learn how to train my dog using positive reinforcement.
Unfortunately, I have not yet found a way to hold a treat in one hand and a clicker in the
other hand and determine if my dog is accurately following my instructions. From what I
read this is about the only way you can do this type of training because you have to
provide the tree no more than a second after you make the noise with the clicker. If there
is anybody out there in the zone who has any experience with positive reinforcement
training one blind, please post some ideas so I can move on further with my dog. Thank
you. Have a good day.
get a wriskband for the clicker, so that you can click and treat at the same time. However, be careful as to how often you use the clicker as well. You don't want to end up having a dog that is highly dependent on treats as reward.
Cheers, thanks. Oh yeah I have that problem too. He smells treats and class is over. We
are working on it though
although most training says that you got to click and treat and the same time, but it is ok to have 2 or 3 seconds delay. what I usually do is that i'll prepare the food in my hand, and click then feed. however, you also got to be careful as to how you treat. because if you click and treat and approaching it from the right, your dog will end up curling to the right to find the treat. what you need to do is to bring the treat in front of it, not beside it.
